Gerardo began his career the non-profit sector doing youth development. He then went on to direct the local outreach efforts of a large multi-site organization focused in Orange County, Ca. From this position, Gerardo mobilized thousands of staff and volunteers that into being culturally intelligent when engaging with historically marginalized and racially diverse communities. Gerardo’s principled and values-based approach to organizational leadership centers on simplicity and effectiveness. The work of diversity, equity and inclusion have been foundational in his leadership style and research-based methodology.
Gerardo has served as a founding board member of a local non-profit aimed at providing academic support and enrichment to students in an under resourced community. He was selected to participate in a multiethnic nation-wide Leadership Cohort with a leading thought-leader in community development. Gerardo speaks both Spanish and English and lives in Santa Ana, CA with his wife of 20 years and two daughters. He received a Certification in Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity, and Organizational Change from the National EIDA Center.
